Hotel Christof is located in the heart of San Michele | Appiano, surrounded by one of South Tyrol’s best-known wine-growing landscapes. The South Tyrolean Wine Road connects Appiano with places such as Caldaro, Termeno and Terlano, passing through a landscape where vineyards, historic estates and Mediterranean atmosphere meet the Alpine mountain scenery.

For your first taste of the region, we recommend excursions to Appiano, Caldaro, Termeno and Terlano. If you would like to discover more about South Tyrol’s wine culture, visit renowned wineries such as San Michele - Appiano, Winery Cornaiano or Colterenzio, or explore smaller, family-run producers such as Klaus Lentsch, Abraham, Romen and Bio-Winery Thomas Niedermayr. Tastings with smaller producers are particularly rewarding, offering the chance to discover not only the wines but also the people and philosophy behind them.

One of the most atmospheric times to visit the South Tyrolean Wine Road is from mid-September onwards, when the grape harvest begins. The vineyards take on rich autumn colours, temperatures remain pleasantly mild and the traditional harvest season – known locally as “Wimmen” – brings a special energy to the region. It is a particularly enjoyable time to experience the South Tyrolean Wine Road at its most authentic.
